Strengthening International ID Ties

IDSA President Paul Auwaerter, MD, MBA, FIDSA, and Immediate Past President Bill Powderly, MD, FIDSA, recently attended the 15th National Congress of the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases in Beijing, China.

Dr. Auwaerter gave a presentation on IDSA, its strategic priorities and its focus on advancing the field of ID and keeping the subspecialty vital. In addition, he discussed Lyme borreliosis and the global problem of emerging tick-borne diseases. Dr. Powderly presented to the Congress on the management of invasive fungal infections.

Strengthening international relationships with fellow infectious diseases physicians and scientists in China and around the world is vital to our success in fighting infectious diseases globally. IDSA looks forward to future collaborations with the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases as well as others.
