IDSA joined several other groups in a letter to Congress urging increased funding for the CDC Division of Tuberculosis Elimination in FY15. Earlier this year, funding for the CDC's national TB program was reduced to FY05 levels.

The letter details some of the health and economic costs of foodborne illnesses, as well as the need for resources to further implement the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011.

IDSA and nearly 80 other organizations that participate in the CDC Coalition called on Congress to provide $7.8 billion for CDC in FY15. The Coalition's request represents a 14% increase; in contrast, the President has proposed a 3.5% decrease for CDC.
