The IDSA Foundation Welcomes Stephen E. Peeler, CFRE, As Executive Director

STephen Headshot Foundation.JPGStephen E. Peeler, CFRE joined the IDSA Foundation this month as Executive Director. He has over 20 years of experience working with non-profits and in the field of development, most recently as vice president of membership and development at the National Club Association and managing director of the NCA Foundation. In this position, Peeler led membership, meetings, marketing, fundraising, sponsorships and partnerships. Prior to the NCA, Peeler was the vice president of development at ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership and the ASAE Foundation where he led all fundraising and development programs, campaigns and special events, expanded donor and volunteer relations, and managed recognition programs.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead this great organization into its next phase of growth and expansion. I am committed to delivering the foundation’s strategic objectives and working with the board, major donors, practitioners, staff and community of stakeholders to rapidly expand the awareness and impact of the IDSA Foundation as we work together to end infectious diseases,” said Peeler.

Thomas Fekete, MD, FIDSA, Chair of the IDSA Foundation said, “Mr. Peeler has the enthusiasm and leadership skills to guide the foundation to the next level in terms of relevance to the larger community and to ID doctors. In addition, he will improve the fundraising of the foundation to permit us to pursue our mission to reduce the burdens of infectious diseases worldwide. We are excited to have him join us.”

The IDSA Foundation is the nation’s leading charitable organiza­tion committed to reducing the burdens of infectious diseases. Founded in 2001, the foundation’s priorities are to build the future workforce of infectious disease clinicians and expand research support for early career physicians.

Since its inception, the IDSA Foundation has raised over $10 million resulting in:

  • 700+ scholarships to early career ID clinicians
  • $850,000+ in targeted ID research support
  • 500+ grants to medical students and residents to grow the field of ID

The IDSA Foundation’s programs are designed to attract the best and brightest to the field of infectious diseases, support research by promising young scientists, and enhance the educational development of infectious disease and HIV professionals.
