Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic has had disproportionate adverse effects on the Black, Indigenous, and people of color community, with significantly higher numbers of cases, deaths and hospitalizations compared to those not in the BIPOC community. Similarly, members of the BIPOC community are among those most affected by the pandemic’s economic disruptions. As COVID-19 vaccines become available to the public, it is imperative that they be distributed equitably.

The Vaccine Education Roundtable Series will focus on addressing key questions and concerns that this population has regarding COVID vaccines and how to optimally communicate with them.

In this follow-up panel discussion, Scott Hartman, MD, and Ebony Jade Hilton, MD, are interviewed by Associate Editor Mati Hlatshwayo Davis, MD, MPH, and share updates on how COVID vaccination is progressing in pediatric populations now that eligibility has expanded to 5- to 11-year-olds.
